Kathryn Nelson - Pemberley Manor

ISBN-13: 978-1-4022-1852-1
ISBN-10: 1-4022-1852-4

As marriage brings an end to a romantic tale, it begins a new story: how does “happily ever after” really work? The day that Jane and Elizabeth Bennet wed Charles Bingley and Fitzwilliam Darcy marks the departure point for Pemberley Manor by Kathryn L Nelson. While the mild and obliging Bingleys might be expected to get on famously, Mr and Mrs Darcy will surely need to work on their communication skills.

Elizabeth Bennet has shamelessly done an about-face on her principles and fallen all over Darcy after seeing his beautiful house. She has by no means taken the time to allow affection to grow. And should Darcy be forgiven for being so besotted with Elizabeth’s eyes that he has taken no pains at all to find out what’s behind them? There’s trouble in store for these feisty lovers.

Jane Austen left each of her novels with a lot of questions still on the table. I’m not the only one who noticed. The proof is in the number of sequels that have been popping up around every corner. I hope every Austen lover finds a sequel that satisfies the longing to spend more time with the magnificent characters she created.

BIOGRAPHY
I was ten years old, crazy to read every book in the weekly bookmobile that stopped on our corner, when I was bitten by the urge to write my own book. My first effort, A Pearl in the Ashes, never made it past the title page and a story line that vaguely resembled Cinderella.

Pemberley Manor made it all the way to an ending, two publishers, and a possible Turkish translation in only forty-five years. I’m crossing my fingers that I can finish book number three in the coming few months, improving my speed dramatically.

Jerrod is the working title of my next book, the story of three generations of a Minnesota family locked in a web of love, secrets and lies. It’s a bit easier to write about the neighborhood that I grew up in and people who could be members of my family than it was to write about 19th century England. I doubt, though, that I’ll ever replicate the excitement and pure fun of my time with Jane Austen and her splendid characters.

Maybe when I finish with Jerrod’s family I’ll go back and dig up that pearl from the ashes.

Jacqueline West - The Books of Elsewhere

by Jacqueline West

Old Ms. McMartin is definitely dead, and now her crumbling Victorian mansion lies vacant. When eleven-year-old Olive and her dippy mathematician parents move in, Olive is right to think there’s something odd about the place—not least the walls covered in strange antique paintings. But when she finds a pair of old glasses in a dusty drawer, Olive discovers the most peculiar thing yet. She can travel inside these paintings to Elsewhere, a place that’s strangely quiet…and eerily familiar. Olive soon finds herself ensnared in a plan darker and more dangerous than she could have imagined, confronting a power that wants to be rid of her by any means necessary. It’s up to her to save the house from the shadows, before the lights go out for good.

Coated With Fur: A Vet’s Life

By Kristen Nelson, DVM

Coated With Fur: A Vet’s Life celebrates the deep bond between humans and animals. Set in a veterinary practice in Burnsville, Minnesota, the book chronicles Kris’ triumphs and trials as a young woman owning her first animal hospital. Experience each day as Kris did, from the joy of saving a dog’s leg to the agony of euthanizing a long-term patient. Marvel at what it took to untangle a snake stuck in a doorway, scaring the society ladies in the waiting room. Through it all, embrace the unconditional love that exists when we open ourselves to the wonders of the human-animal bond.

Dr. Kristen Nelson grew up on a farm in Watertown, Minnesota where she developed a deep love for animals of all kinds. She received a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Minnesota, College of Veterinary Medicine. Sleeping with the Lights On

By Brenda Whiteside

The Wild Rose Press

Sandra Holiday thinks she’s met the man to end her years of less than perfect choices; choices that not only derailed her travel-related career plans but also left her single and broke.

Carson Holiday, a Las Vegas country crooner with swoon-inducing good looks, spent his adult life pursuing a recording contract and love, never holding on to either. After eighteen years, he drops back into Sandra’s life, reigniting an attraction he can’t deny.

When Carson reappears, Sandra must choose again. Only this time, nothing’s as it seems. A secret admirer, a redheaded stalker, and an eccentric millionaire throw her on a dangerous path, with Carson her only truth.

As life confronts her with yet another turning point, will her decisions find her eternally sleeping with the lights on – or will she finally discover a way to turn them off?

BIOGRAPHY
Brenda has been writing all of her life in one way or another from the captions on her childish artwork to teenage psychedelic scrolls to her current novel.

After publishing several short stories, she turned to writing novels. Regardless of the length of her story, the characters drive her forward, taking her on their journey of discovery and love.

Her life is blessed with three creative soul mates. Her son, a singer/song writer lives in a far off western town in the pines. In Minnesota, a nature wonderland that captured her heart seventeen years ago, she shares a home with her husband, an excellent photographer, and their dog Rusty, who creates joy (and is the smartest dog in the world).

Brenda is available to talk with book groups who have read her book. Contact her on her web site for information.
